Our Vision

We want our students to learn dance technique, develop their talents, grow a taste for the art of music and dance and make friendships for life. We believe that each student has the potential to expand their dance knowledge and progress. We value and reward our student’s efforts offering them extra roles and opportunities to perform. We don't audition students to enter our dance school - everyone is welcome to join in our classes. 

Enrolment

Parents should enrol their child through our new booking and payment system Class4kids -You don't need to re-enrol each term. We will let you know when each term starts and end. Bookings will secure your child's place in our classes.

Payments

Elen Brandao Dance school run classes for 36 weeks in the year. Your payment plan covers the cost of all classes and it is spread equally over 12 months of the year to make it easier to budget. Therefore fees/subscriptions are still payable during school holidays months where no classes are taking place, as you will have paid less than the value of classes during other months. Fees are requested by Direct Debit on the 1st of every month. The payment can be stopped at any time within 30 days notice. Class fees are non-refundable in the event of absence.

Classes

For classes the student should wear the appropriate uniform, shoes and have their hair in a bun. This is part of dance etiquette and can help their concentration during the classes.

During the classes we study set syllabuses and work on choreographies so it is important that your child attends classes regularly. Absence is unavoidable from time to time but as much as possible your child should attend every class.

If a teacher is unable to teach classes for any reason the classes will be taught by other dance teachers or dance assistants. If a class has to be cancelled (for example, due to bad weather) parents will be informed by email and via the Facebook page.

We may make changes to classes such as changing the start time, duration or we may merge or cancel a class. If this happens we will let you know.

The car park at the Bothwell Parish Church Centre can be very busy so allow plenty of time to bring your child to the classes and consider walking (if you live close by) or parking around Bothwell.

Uniform

Students should wear the correct uniform for classes and exams, which should be purchased directly from us. 

Dance exams

We teach all the children the exam syllabuses so even if your child isn't entered to an exam they are still learning, improving their technique and getting all the benefits that dance classes provide. It is better that students are well prepared for the exams and likely to achieve a good result. Exams are optional but we would recommend students to take them if we think they are prepared and ready.

Talking and passing exams, give the students a great sense of achievement and a goal to achieve each year. They will also get a certificate and an award (medal, badges, plaque) if they pass. Dance is an activity with progression so each year they will be challenged with new steps and choreographies.

Dance shows

We usually have a dance show once a year which generally take place on the weekend in the mornings and afternoons so little ones don't get overtired. Our past shows included great venues such Mitchell Theatre (Glasgow), The Town House (Hamilton) and Motherwell Theatre.

Keeping you informed

You can find lots of information in our website and most of our dance school communication is done online by email. We also have a Facebook closed group (which you can ask to join) and Facebook page both called Elen Brandao Dance School. These are a great way to keep in touch and to check dance school updates. Each time a newsletter is sent out I put a note on both the Facebook group and page to let you know.

Protecting our environment

We are currently working towards being a cashless and paperless dance school. This will help keep our information secured in one place, avoid time taking from classes dealing with bookings and cash/cheque payments, reduce waste in our resources and be more environment friendly.

Privacy Policy

The privacy of your personal information is very important at Elen Brandao Dance School. We will not sell or trade your personal information with any third party and will take special care to protect the privacy and security of such information. We will collect only relevant information from our students and parents/carers related to our classes and for communication purposes.

Photography and video

For students to join in the dance school events (special classes, dance shows, exams), parents should also agree with our Photo Policy stated below.

Elen Brandao Dance School takes photographs and/or videos of students for use in the general promotion and to keep the dance school memories through the years.

Parents may record images at dance school events providing the images are for the sole use of the family concerned. They are not for any other use or purpose outside of that family.

If parents are unable to agree to the above statement it may be necessary to prohibit them from taking photographs or videos.

If any parents do not agree that the dance school and/or parents should be allowed to take photographs and videos of their child, it may be necessary to consider excluding that child from that particular dance school activity.
